Celebrating 10 Years of Cheers

With the new year upon us, we look back with thanks to all who supported us in this adventure that is now surpassed 10 years and still going strong. A new category has been created according to ratings service Nielsen and now hop water is the fastest growing style of beer in the US. Crazy!

It started while brewing a batch of home brewed beer in my back yard using fresh hops. I was drinking my “go to” moderation drink (sparkling water) during the brewing when inspiration struck. Why not pair these together? After some trials, I thought this “hop water” was pretty amazing. That lead to me taking my creation to friends and eventually beer festivals to get some feedback and then on to commercial production under the brand name H2OPS. It was incredibly challenging. Creating and perfecting a new unheard beverage style is incredibly difficult and expensive. It’s a slow and unsteady process to build awareness and a fan base, but we have made it past year 10. So a big THANK YOU to the retailers, distributors and our small band of angel investors who took big risks and believe in what we are building. I continue to love hearing from our customers about their discovery story and how they now regularly enjoy the experience of craft brewed hops without alcohol or calories.

For the next several weeks, I will be posting a series of “flash back” moments from our journey. It will include old pictures of my home brew set up, the original hop plants I grew in my back yard, photos from the first beer festival where we sampled from home brew kegs and a bunch of other milestones along the way.
